So i am now down here in the show me state! and for those of you who are like me you need me to tell you that the state i am referring to is more commonly known as Missouri.
Before i go into the details of where i am i should give you some of the final details of where i have been. I got to spend some SHANTASTIC time with sister shannon in san diego. this time included visits with her cool friends including the Amazing Justin who is all that his name implies and more. we also did some karaokeing and some science experimenting. i got to go the beach a couple times. i ate the worlds best fish tacos (sorry agua verde). Then on top of that i got to go to the happiest place on earth…Disneyland! mother ruth flew down for a couple days to hang out with myself and sister shannon (in that order). it was so much fun and together we enjoyed the magical kingdom where dreams come true. after that it was a quick jaunt back to des moines to do some laundry before heading into the current surroundings that i find myself.
I am actually at a Christian Conference called Catalyst. Th conference is a week long experience put together by InterVarsity to train student leaders. Their the vision for the week is to train us to become “change agents” on our different campuses (I like to call us “changents” for short). Also, though, we the Ethiopia Team are using it as a training session for our trip. just as people going off the blob make a big splash into the water my hope is that this week will make a big splash in our spirits.
all silliness aside i am actually glad to be here in the show me state. when i left california i was realy sad to have to say goodbye to sister shannon and mother ruth and i wasn’t really looking forward to this week of meeting new people who were “totally super psyched about life.” but it has been good thus far and God just keeps continuing to push me to open myself up to new friendships. sometimes i feel like i would rather not because i already have all of you who i love an miss but i know it is good to make friendships even if you have to say goodbye to them.
i hope you all are well and that you enjoy the rest of grandma florence and my birthday month.

Dearest Brother Daniel, It was great having you out here to visit. Come back! The fish tacos will be waiting for you (not literally though because then they would be really old and gross when you did come back.) Love you!
